This is tough.
In an effort to remain open, I have to mention this past weekend. It'll be
graphic. Please skip over this if I've crossed a line. If so, I'm sorry.
On Wednesday, I was able to get all of my bathroom samples into the local doctor for laboratory examination. I felt pretty good & we even met a friend for lunch. But, after Wednesday, my gastric system completely shut down. Here's a brand new nightmare!
This is not something you realize immediately. It takes a day or two to realize that you've seized up. By Friday evening, I was writhing in pain. I understand that this is not cancer directly causing the problem, but is the underlying infection which has yet to be addressed; but I experienced stabbing pains in my upper liver, throughout my torso, & into my back. "Misery" doesn't begin to cover it!
In an effort to "force the issue", I intentionally took 1/2 of a pill which I know causes diarrhea on an empty stomach... then another 1/2 an hour later... & another 1/2 in one more hour. Nothing. At 3:30 a.m., I sent Christian to Walmart for a laxative. I have absolutely no history here, so I was a bit fearful. Still, this was becoming dangerous! I took two at 4:00 a.m. & another two at 10:00 a.m., all while writhing in pain.
By Saturday afternoon, I had results - what a relief... but what an excruciating ordeal! In addition to "movement", I was also taking the anti-nausea pills in an effort to curb the throwing up. As expected, it was about six hours in hell as my body began to purge everything, but I got through it! As all of this was going on, I also had a bucket in the bathroom with me due to the dry heaves. Saturday was NOT a good day!
So, what about Sunday? Well, I realize that I have to eat, but I'm scared to pieces to do so. I've been having watermelon & saltine crackers - after that anti-nausea pill, of course, & so far - so good! I don't know how long I can continue with just eating melon & crackers, but I'm now afraid of food.
So, as I mentioned, my samples have been sent to the lab & I'm waiting on results to identify whatever this nightmare may be. They said to expect a week for answers. Once I get the results, I'll send them off to the hospital for an anti-biotic recommendation. I can only hope that SOMETHING is identified as the culprit & we can begin to correct it! After six weeks, I'm still in bed with no energy & no stamina.. with no end in sight! I can't go on like this!
Yeah, I GET it. If cancer doesn't get you, the "opportunistic infections" will wear you down. It's very discouraging & depressing!
